Our Week W/C 28th November 2022

We have had a very busy week this week in Lawley. On Thursday we received a visit from 'Gimble' The Elf. The children have been very excited to have Gimble around and he will be staying with us until we break up of the 16th of December.

In Phonics we have been reviewing our learnt phonemes in Reception up too 'ng' and in Year One we have been looking at 'Growing the Code'. We have been looking at how many ways we can write/say the 'a' sound in the English Language such as 'ai', 'ay', a-e, a (Paper). The children have all been working really hard to practice their tricky words.

In English we have been thinking of a plan to trap Nibbles The Book Monster. The Children in Reception have come up with some lovely ideas. In Year One the children have been pretending to be Nibbles and have been writing a recount about the events in the story. The children have been working on sentence openers and using words such as; firstly, finally, next, then, but.

In maths we have continued looking at addition and subtraction and the children in Year One have been comparing statements using the symbols <, > and =. In Reception we have been working on the formation of numbers this week and their cardinal value. Linking numbers to their amounts.

A great week. It is beginning to look alot like Christmas in our classroom! We are excited for the next few week and festivities ahead.

Well done, Lawley.

Mrs Greenway and Mrs Dykes.
