Our Week - Reception - W/C - 4th July 2022

We have had a very exciting week in Reception - This week we were lucky enough to get a visit from some 'Alpacas' organised by a parent as a end of term treat. The children were so excited. They got to feed and stroke the Alpacas and the children asked lots of questions about them. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Howell for organising such an exciting visit.

In English the children have been developing their writing based on our topic book 'The Sea Saw'. The children have been writing a letter to the main character Sofia who has lost her Teddy at the beach. There has also been a big focus on punctuation this week particularly in phonics. The children have had a brief look at commas, question marks and exclamation marks. We discussed when we might use these punctuation marks.

In maths this week we have been looking at halving. The children have been halving shapes and amount to 10 and 20. Later in the week we have been looking at subtraction and how subtracting means you have less than when you started. The children have been doing practical subtraction using the buttons and compare bears.

A great week Reception.

Well done.
