Our Week - Reception - W/C - 27th June 2022

We have had a super busy week in Reception with Sports Day and Cluster Sports ! The children have taken part in some wonderful P.E based activities and Mrs Dykes and I have been so proud of the respect and behaviour the children have had throughout the week in front of different schools and their families at both Sports Day and Cluster Sports. Well done Class 1.

In Literacy this week we have been busy reading our topic story 'The Sea Saw' - The children have been writing about the character Sofia and thinking about how they could help her after she lost her lovely Teddy Bear at the beach. The children have been using lots of adjectives in their work and they have even been using the connective 'and' to further develop their sentences. We have been discussing lots of vocabularly within the story too.

In maths we have been focusing on halving this week. The children have been actively learning the concept of halving and sharing. We have been using crackers and cakes to model halving. The children have worked really hard to cut different  shaped playdough in half and they even practised halving different amounts.

In Science the children have been looking at different types of materials and they have worked in groups to describe their properties.

What a fantastic week Reception.

Well Done

Miss Clarke and Mrs Dykes.
