Eco Council 2021-2022

Sep 22 UPDATE - We are proud to announce that due to the hard work and effort of the eco-council over the past 12 months, along with the support from the whole school and local community, we have been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Merit and the RSPB Bronze Award.

Hello. Welcome to our Eco-council page.

We are an enthusiastic team of 7 pupils, ranging from Reception to Year 6. We all wanted to be part of the Eco-council because we are passionate about the environment and want to do our part in creating a more sustainable world.

We have regular meetings throughout the year and are currently working towards the Eco-Schools Green Flag award. After completing an audit of what we do well in our school, we chose three areas that we felt were the most important, and have created projects that will help us improve in these areas.

It is important for us to involve the whole school in our activities and decisions. We have a suggestion box for pupils to add their ideas and comments to and we check this at every meeting. As a result of these suggestions we have set up a soft-plastics collection point in school, arranged a new after school gardening club, starting this term and we are going to be heavily involved with the development of our Forest School.

Recent projects and events we have taken part in include the Great British Bird Watch, Great British School Clean, Veolias Pass It On and we are just about to host a metal giraffe from the British Ironworks, where we will be aiming to collect as many plastic botttle tops as we can.

Check back here to read our latest meeting minutes and see photos of what we have been up to.
