Our Week - W/C 10th January 2022

We have had a fantastic week this week in Reception. In Literacy we have been busy looking at the poem 'When Daddy Fell into the Pond'. The children have enjoyed looking at rhyming words within this poem as well as writing captions/ sentences about the poem. The children have also created a story map to map out the key events in the poem. We then compared our class poem to the poem 'I Promise I'll Be Careful'. The children gave fantastic feedback and were able to find similarities and differences between the two poems.

In maths, we have continued to develop our number recognition to 20 and have looked at weight, using the mathematical terms, light, heavy, balancing, lighter, heavier and equal weight. The children loved weighing different objects in the classroom using the multilink to measure the objects weight.

In Forest school alongside our animals and habitats topic, the children created habit!ts for lots of woodland creatures. We discussed what creatures live in a woodland and why this is their habitat.

In phonics this week we have practiced writing our phase 1 tricky words and the children have learnt the phase 3 sounds 'ar' and 'or'.

In provision this week we have had lots of tuff trays themed to our topic 'Animals and Habitats'.

What a fantastic week Class 1. Well done!
